Lucien Suet bought a domain in the Madiran region about 60 years ago, overlooking the marvellous Pyrenees. The small village of Moncaup forms the backdrop for the vineyard and the 17th century farmhouse.

He decides to restart the former wine production. Since then, the vineyard has been owned by the same family.

The family and the residents of the small village
— the Moncaupois and the Moncaupoises —
give you a warm welcome.

Château Floris is a Madiran wine.

The Madiran is one of the wine regions in the southwest of France, where the soil consists of gravel, clay, limestone and in many places contains many boulders. The mountains and the Atlantic Ocean influence the climate.

The vines are on carefully selected plots where the choice of substrate plays a major role. An ecological way of working combined with a traditional vinification gave Château Floris the HVE label (Exploitation de Haute Valeur Environnementale).

The typical grape variety of the Madiran is the Tannat. A grape with a lot of tannin and a thick skin. The late ripening in the warm autumn ensures a high sugar content. Château Floris opts for a 'monocépage' wine with 100% Tannat. The taste of Chateau Floris is a perfect reflection of the natural environment: robust and earthy, with the taste of red fruits and a pleasant freshness, a wine that lives up to its origins.

“Château Floris. Misschien wel de warmbloedigste van alle grote madiran-wijnen. Rijpe, stevige, volle grand cru. Krentjes, dikke bramen, vleugje menthol.”
— WIJNGIDS HAROLD HAMERSMA

“Rank, prachtvol en slank. Mild syrah pepertje, introvert aards, frivool maar intelligent.Donker en rood fruit dat zich verbaast over de fris-zure-koele bosvruchtjes in een paddestoelenambiance.”
— VIVINO.COM

“Such a great revelation! The wine deals in fresh lemon peel, white flower and gravelly texture, while being well structured and enduringly fresh. This is a truly lovely, revelatory wine.”
